Cherry

Cherry

The scientific name of the cherry tree is Prunus avium. Until the 1st century BC. C, cherry cultivation was limited to the area between the Black Sea and the Caspian Blackwater Sea. After the conquest of the Greek colony of Kerasous (current Giresun, in Northeast Turkey) by the Romans in 67 BC. C., General Lucio Licinio Luculo took 74 copies to the city of Rome where it began its expansion led by human migrations. Kerasos was renamed after its conquest to Kerasun and then to Cerasus, in times of the empire. Hence the name it would receive in Latin, where the Spanish cherry comes from.
