Europe has increased the consumption of fruit as a snack, preferring healthier alternatives. The growth of food sales via e-commerce is around 7 to 8% in countries such as France and the United Kingdom, but well below the growth in Asia, which reaches 52%.
Only in the UK, the increase in fruit consumption was 17% from March to May 2020. Annual spending is expected to increase by 74% between 2015 and 2030. On the other hand, and following the line of sustainability, 73% of people expect to minimize the use of packaging, 50% are willing to pay more for biodegradable packaging and 43% of UK consumers choose the supermarket based on its degree of environmental sustainability.
